Plot Summary: Une Vieille Maîtresse (An Old Mistress) was written in 1851 by French novelist Jules Amédée Barbey d'Aurevilly. The novel was attacked at the time of its publication on the charge of immorality.

The book, which is in the public domain, is a passionate love triangle, set in the 18th century in Normandy (France), about a impoverished but charming aristocrat who seduces a young heiress. But his past, in the shape of a former older Spanish mistress of a "bewitching uglyness" whose husband once defeated him in a duel, comes back to haunt him.

Asia on the film: "I play the mistress. It’s a costume movie but it’s not as pornographic as her other films."

Asia on her character: "She's a Spanish nobel who doesn't follow the rules of conduct. She spits, she curses."

Working with Catherine Breillat: "She’s a woman director that I look up to a lot. Without her movie, Romance, Scarlet Diva never would have never existed. She opened the door for me. She’s somebody who freed a lot of women sexually through her movies."

Catherine Breillat on Asia: "She's a black panther. She has an innate talent for acting. I've never met anyone like this."
