La Sirène Rouge

A young girl called Alice (Alexandra Negrao) reports a murder to police detective Anita Staro (Asia Argento). She claims that her mother Eva (Frances Barber) tortured her victim to death in the basement and she has a video to prove it.

When Anita's superiors are less than impressed with her story, Alice goes on the run to Portugal, where she hopes to find her father. Pursued by her mother's minders, Alice takes refuge in the back of a Mercedes belonging to Hugo (Jean-Marc Barr), a professional hitman.

She happens upon Hugo at a crisis point in his life. He never forgave himself for having accidentally killed a young boy and is thus in a mood of contrition, which persuades him to help Alice locate her father. He sees a chance of redemption there.

Meanwhile, Anita has found the evidence to link Eva to the murder shown on the tape. She sets off after Alice, who is already been tailed by Eva's men. As this caravan careers across Europe the bullet and body count continue to rise.

"It's an action movie done with very little money, the reason why I accepted to do this film is because I wanted to play a ‘positive’ role, instead of being the usual scary bitch from hell. It's weird how this year I will play the cop 3 times (also in 'xXx' and in my dad's movie, that I will do next spring)".

According to Asia, Anita was one of the most difficult roles she had to play during her career, because she thinks that playing a normal person is a lot more difficult than playing a mad woman, a whore.

PS: Asia didn’t play in her father’s movie 'Il Cartaio'. But she played a cop in 'The Stendhal Syndrome' and 'xXx'.
