DeGenerazione

In 1994, Asia had also turned her hand to directing and made two short films – 'Prospettive' (an episode in the film 'DeGenerazione') and 'A Ritroso'.

"'DeGenerazione' is an episode movie made by ten young directors, that will be relased during the summer. In one of them I act, in another one I am the director's assistant, and I direct a four minutes episode myself. I tell a dream of mine and it will be something surreal, dreamlike. I've been thinking about it for a while", Asia said in April 1994.

Like Asia said, 'Prospettive' was indeed taken from a dream she had, "really twisted and kinda sexual."

Five years later, in 1999, Asia confessed that her short movie debut as a director (shot when she was only eighteen) has been an "important occasion, but it was about a dream and incomprehensible".

The first thing Asia has ever filmed was her red boots, as a subjective shot. This short is the only thing she has ever shot in 35mm (2004).

When Dario first saw 'DeGenerazione', he didn't make any comments, so Asia thought that maybe he didn't like the movie. But some years later, when she started shooting 'Scarlet Diva', he told her that he felt very touched by it and that when he saw it, he realized that she could be much more than an actress, that she could be a director.

The movie won Fantasporto Festival in Portugal, and the Audience Award at Mystfest.
